Welcome to The Pause, dear friend. Come on in and make yourself comfortable.
We made it. The final day of 2022 is here.
Settle in, take a deep breath, and get ready to pause in 3…2…1…
🌅 Farewell 2022
I thoroughly enjoy the last day of the year. The reflection. Contemplation. Processing. All of it feels like a necessary part of unwrapping the New Year.
My reflections have evolved as I have—shifting from focusing on what I did to who I’ve become. I’ve grown to put more emphasis on recognizing and celebrating the change within myself. The tiny micro-wins of the year. The moments where I chose to think, act, and be different on purpose, no matter how counterintuitive or uncomfortable it was.
The seemingly small moments I conquered this year are the accomplishments I feel most proud of. They were the moments ripe with change—like finally breaking away from communicating in a harsh tone during the heat of conflict or standing up for myself in relationships no matter how uncomfortable it made me feel—and while each individual conquering felt exhausting at times, their compound effect on who I hold myself to be heading into 2023 is profound.
As you reflect today, I pray you feel the little wins adding up to big change in your life. That you feel the compound effect of choosing to whittle away at the no-longer-helpful ways you used to be, think, and act. That you see yourself, recognize yourself, and feel proud.
Tomorrow is ripe with the opportunity to choose to be different. But, perhaps more importantly, so is every day after that.
Keep doing the work. Keep showing up. Keep trying and failing and trying again. No matter the ebbs and flows of any given year, you will always be capable of becoming someone new.
