Welcome to this issue of The Pause, my friends. I hope it finds you well and good.
Since we first started pausing together we've gained some new readers, so before we get started I'd love to share this gentle foundational reminder: There's no right or wrong way to approach this newsletter.
As you read through each issue and explore the questions/prompts, let yourself go as deep or as shallow as you feel like. Write your answers down or think through them in your head. Share what you discover or keep it to yourself. The Pause is meant to provide you with a moment to get curious and find clarity in a way that's meaningful to you. There's nothing to "get right" or do except be here in this moment and give yourself the opportunity to reconnect.
Now, for our focus today, I'm really excited to have us take a moment to pause and think about the people around us who we admire.
Settle in, take a deep breath, and get ready to pause in 3...2...1...
🥹 I Want To Be More Like That
This past weekend I had the pleasure of spending time with my family.. immediate and extended alike. Mom, dad, brothers, sister, nieces, cousins and their babies...you name it and they were there.
It was a glorious love-fest that was 16+ months in the making, and wow, it was special. I got to watch as these people I've grown up with, people who I've shared life's greatest and darkest moments with, navigated their regular, everyday life circumstances.
I witnessed my cousin teach his son how to push through life's tough moments after his son was accidentally stung by a bee.
I watched my mom anticipate and somehow meet all the needs of her kids, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, simultaneously.
I saw my parents' generosity help the people they love to create new, life-long memories. It was all really, really special.
There were many moments this past weekend when I found myself inspired by how my loved ones were riding the waves of life. These seemingly "normal" moments ended up having a profound impact and left me thinking, "Damn, I want to be more like that."
We're all super blessed to watch how our people navigate their lives. They love in a different way. They communicate in a different way. They prioritize life in a different way, and every single one of those differences provides us with a chance to draw inspiration for how we want to show up in our own lives.
So for this issue of The Pause, pause and take a moment to appreciate a few of your loved ones you admire. What do they consistently do that inspires you? How have they handled life's most beautiful and difficult situations? What have you seen them do/navigate that left you thinking, "Damn, I want to be more like that."? As these moments and admirations come to mind, don't be afraid to reach out and let a few of your people know. Tell them something like, "Hey, I want you to know that I really admire how well you listen during conversations. You're an inspiring example to me and those around you on how to be a better conversationalist, and I appreciate you showing me how it's done."
To you and your inspiring people,
Lindsey
⏸ Pause & Reconnect
Take a moment to think about a few loved ones you admire and recall a time you watched them move through life and left thinking, "Damn, I want to be more like that."
What were you most inspired by?
Why was this inspiring to you?
How can you incorporate this inspiration into your life moving forward?
P.S. In case you forgot.. The way you approach life has people around you saying, "I want to be more like that," even if they don't have the chance to express it outwardly. Your people are blessed to watch you move. Keep it up. 🤍
